We have been busy learning about the life cycle of different insects. Our biggest focus has been on butterflies. We received our butterfly larvae - commonly known as "caterpillars" - and they have been busy eating and getting bigger. The larvae have now moved onto their next stage of development - pupa. They are all snug in their chrysalis and we are patiently waiting for them to emerge into adulthood. The chrysalis are all hanging on the side of the tank and it hopefully won't be too long before we have a number of butterflies! The children demonstrated their understanding of the butterfly life cycle by using pasta noodles.
