We discussed important aspects of "Friendship". The children brainstormed what friendship looks like, sounds like, and feels like. You can see their ideas. These all fit so well with our "bucket filling" class philosophy. We all drew pictures of our faces and put them in the portholes of our "Friend Ship".
Our Friendship Poems
We created a vocabulary list of words that describe friends. The children then used this vocabulary to write their own "We Like Friends" poems. We then practiced reading it back to a partner. After they were done reading the listener gave the reader a compliment about their poem or about how well they read it. Not only are the children practicing their reading skills, they are practicing their listening skills as well as giving compliments to their classmates. We talked about how compliments make us feel. They all agreed..."it filled our buckets!!" That all helps create a positive classroom and school environment.

I'm Mrs. MacDonald. Welcome to a window into our kindergarten classroom. My goal of this blog is to give you an opportunity to see some of the things that we are doing at school. Enjoy!
