Last Thursday we celebrated diversity, acceptance and a better understanding of Autism with our fifth annual Canucks Autism Network Walk. The We Can Be Friends program helps children celebrate all differences. We began the afternoon with an assembly where we listened to two speakers. First we listened to Sean Bass who is living with autism. We learned that he enjoys participating in theatre. He has a great memory so learning his lines is easy for him. He told us that his interest in cooking has led him to pursue the chef program at TRU. We also listened to Nan Stevens speak about living with her son, Westin, who has autism. Westin loves to dance so we all joined in and "danced" for our walk warm-up. After the assembly we joined up with our buddies and walked the dike with them. At our turn-around point we met up with our buddy Pinkus. We were very lucky that the weather held out for us!

Very impressed that Westmount takes part in this. I am looking forward to being there for the next one!
